I'm crazy hot

Raise your hand if you watch How I Met Your Mother on CBS? To all those not raising your hand, you're all dead to me. OK, not really...but if you're a 20-something like me, you will definitely be able to relate to this show -- men and women alike. Seriously.

This week's episode delivered once again with womanizer Barney Stinson's explanation of the Hot/Crazy Scale. Basically, as Barney describes it, the Hot/Crazy Scale is a method of determining if a woman's hotness outweighs her craziness. Watch the whole thing online here, or just skip to the fun part by taking The Barnacle's quiz to figure out if you fall into the "danger zone." Per Barney, fall below the red line and you're toast.

Don't get me wrong, I see how this could be construed as offensive to women. But ladies, think about this: The same Hot/Crazy Scale can easily be tweaked to work for us, too. Think about it...you're on a date with a really hot guy who's kinda sorta starting to drive you crazy halfway through your lobster tail (because of course you ordered the lobster tail...). Figure out if you should hang in there or duck out while he's in the restroom with the Hot/Annoying Scale. Your new boyfriend looks like Brad Pitt but he checks out every girl walking by. Use the Hot/Asshole Scale to help you decide whether to look the other way (I mean, he does look like Brad...) or kick him to the curb. And how can I overlook perhaps the most important one of all, the Hot/Bad In Bed Scale? I mean, we all judge men anyway, right? As I see it, this is no different.

I really think I'm onto something here...

omg. SO true ... never thought about it that way! I personally tend to use the Hot/Asshole scale ...

Katie, great job flipping the scale. It's important for girls to turn Barney's powers against him once in a while.

What do you think about his trick last week of leaving his one-night-stand in the apartment he'd told her was his? Is that something girls could co-opt as well?

JD -- That was definitely one of Barney's more, let's say, creative exit strategies... Not sure if anyone would (should) really use that, male or female :)

That said, I definitely think the "It's been one date and I'm already planning the wedding" mentality of Barney's one-night stand is something that both men AND women have probably had to deal with once or twice. I know I have!

I think it was a bad move just due to the leg work involved. It would have probably been easier to find another girl.

Unless, what if Barney is actually on a mission to teach all the needy, marriage-obsessed women a lesson via some tough love. Literally!

I don't get why Barney just doesn't leave in the middle of the night. There's no need for excuses, and then you get to wake up at home, which means you can suit up in the morning.

The most important scale anyway is definetly the Hot/Skank-scale. You could kind of be with a girl that have made out with your friend if she's at least a 8, but if she's had sex with him - she would have to be a ten. (This only applies to previous ONS, in the case of ex girlfriends you can not break the bro code)
